Review date: October 29, 2026. A paid Claude plan may have been started on the web, desktop, Apple App Store or Google Play. The cancellation route depends on the original purchase channel. Deleting the app or signing out does not automatically stop renewal.
Confirm the purchase channel first
- Check the bank statement and email receipt.
- Review Settings → Billing in Claude for a web subscription.
- Check Apple ID subscriptions and Google Play subscriptions separately.
- Confirm that you are signed in to the account and email used for payment.
Cancel a web or desktop subscription
- Sign in to claude.ai or open Claude Desktop.
- Open the profile menu.
- Go to Settings → Billing.
- Select Cancel and complete the confirmation steps.
- Save the confirmation page or email.
Cancellation commonly takes effect at the end of the current billing period, so access may continue until the paid period expires.
Cancel on iOS or Android
iOS
Use Manage subscription from Claude Billing, or open iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions and cancel Claude.
Android
Use subscription management in Claude Billing, or open Google Play → Payments and subscriptions and cancel Claude there.
Avoid the next renewal
Cancel at least 24 hours before the next billing date when the platform’s policy recommends that timing. After cancelling, confirm that the account shows cancelled or will not renew. Do not rely only on the disappearance of an in-app benefit.
If you are charged after cancellation
- Check whether the charge happened before or after the cancellation time.
- Look for another account or another purchase platform.
- Keep the receipt, charge date, amount and cancellation confirmation.
- Contact Anthropic for web purchases; use the relevant Apple or Google process for store purchases.
Common mistakes
- Uninstalling the app is not cancellation.
- Changing the card does not end the subscription obligation.
- Cancellation and a refund request are different actions.
- Never give a full card number or verification code to an unofficial contact.
